There are many kinds of threads. When tying streamers a strong thread is recommended. Especially when you need to pull hard on the thread when using for materials like deer belly hair. But a strong thread doesn't always need to be thick. GSP 100 is a superb standard thread for tying pike streamers. Ultra strong but not building up too much when tying down the layes of materials.
