Winter evaluation - April 1, 2024

Item 1 of 7

Although I didn't catch any real trophies the number of pike caught this season was up big time compared to last year. The trip to Wild Lake Lodge in Sweden was one of the reasons for that. The crystal clear lake was full of pike and action! But also in the Netherlands the fly fishing for predators was great. Days into double figures are not common here but I had two of them and those days were extremly enjoyable. The big flashy perch was my number one producing streamer again but I also caught a lot of pike, zander and some perch on the small flexi dreki gold wiggle tail streamer. Unfortunately the short two day trip to Pineview reservoir that we did after the IFTD show in USA didn't result into catching a tiger muskie. So that one stays on the bucket list. Will be back!

95cm Swedish Lapland pike

Tiger muskie - attempt 1

The most beautiful pike I caught this season was a 'golden/yellow' pike from a Dutch lake. It ate the big flashy perch.

We're prepping for the new season that will open up last weekend of May. Can't wait to start chasing pike with a fly rod again!

Tight lines,

Peter Elberse
